Blake chose her Grammie as her favorite person, the woman who introduced her (Blake is now a chef) to the kitchen. I recreated some of Grammie’s favorite foods from her pinnacle time in the kitchen, the 40’s and 50’s. I also set a formal table, as Grammie would have. The main courses of the meal were served on wheatgrass, in honor of Blake’s involvement and contribution to the farm-to table movement in her community. Grammie doesn’t fuss with organic. “Why should I?” she asked. “I’m 85, I smoked for 35 years, I haven’t eaten organic my whole life, and I feel great.”
